We've probably all seen videos of pro football players racing for a touchdown, who, to their everlasting embarrassment, recklessly spiked the football before they crossed the goal line. A similar premature celebration occured among Democrats in 2016 when they were so confident on the eve of the election that Donald Trump would be consigned to political oblivion that they didn't even try to conceal their glee.
As just one instance of the political version of spiking the football before crossing the goal line here's a video of several MSNBC personalities - Lawrence O'Donnell, Joy Reid, and Rick Wilson - yukking it up at the impending humiliation of Donald Trump:
The MSNBC folks have been trying to wipe the egg off their faces ever since, but rather than be humbled by the defeat of Hillary Clinton, their contempt for Trump quickly morphed into open and unapologetic hatred and hostility.
For four years the team at MSNBC, including the same people who appear in the above video, have been working feverishly to destroy the presidency of the man who embarrassed them so badly in 2016. There's reason for concern that if 2020 turns out to be a reprise of 2016 these commentators will be pushed over the edge of sanity much like Chief Inspector Dreyfus whose hatred of Inspector Clouseau in the old Pink Panther movies drove him insane:
