The New Civility

Teamster president James Hoffa demonstrates for our edification the new rhetorical tone Democrats have been demanding in the wake of the Gabriel Giffords shooting. The rhetoric coming from the left, we can expect, will be full of this sort of brotherly love, kindness, and civility in the coming campaign season (50 sec. mark):

The new tone will unify us, heal our partisan divisions, and bring us together as a nation. Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters, for her part, can't wait for the healing to begin (20 sec. mark):

In this clip President Obama himself exemplifies how as a post-partisan president he rises above crass political divisions as he cordially invites, sort of, those Republican SOBs to work together with him in harmony and unity to solve the country's problems:

Frankly, I'm not sure questioning the peoples' patriotism is the best way to put them in a cooperative mood, but I'm pretty sure that he better not use a line like that Thursday night when addressing the joint session of Congress. If he does I wouldn't be surprised to see the GOP caucus get up and walk out en masse, and they should, even if it puts a damper on our new civility.
